The platform and these terms
NODE Sudbury is operated by NORTHERN ONTARIO DEV EXCHANGE ("we", "us"). These terms cover our free event and hackathon platform: accounts, profiles, reusable projects, registration, teams, submissions and event administration. A platform account is not NODE membership. Creating an account does not register you for an event or appoint you as a manager or judge.
When the platform asks you to accept these terms, read the identified version before accepting. The Privacy Policy explains personal-information practices. Community Guidelines apply to conduct. Event rules and dataset licences are separate requirements; accepting platform terms does not accept them for you.
Your account and eligibility
Use information that accurately represents you and an email or enabled login method you control. Protect your password and session, do not share another person’s account, and keep a working sign-in method when changing connected identities. You need legal capacity to agree to these terms and must meet each event’s eligibility rules. Do not claim an affiliation, qualification or authority you do not have.
Joining and submitting
Read the event’s eligibility, team limits, deadlines, timezone, requirements and judging information. Hosts are responsible for the events they organize, including their rules, communications, review decisions and any advertised awards. Event changes should be communicated clearly. Joining and judging through this free platform do not require a payment.
Check the confirmation and status shown after registration or submission. Saving a draft, uploading a file or receiving an invitation is not final registration, submission or acceptance. Team leads must have authority to submit shared work. Reusing a portfolio project does not override an event’s originality or prior-work rules.
Your work and our permission to operate the service
You keep your rights in your content. You give us permission to host, reproduce, process and display it as reasonably needed to operate the service, provide your chosen features and show it to the audiences identified by the project or event. This permission does not transfer ownership or grant unrelated commercial rights.
Share only material you own or have permission to use. Credit collaborators, code, data and other sources. Do not present a reference repository as your own implementation. Keep credentials and confidential or unnecessary personal information out of uploads. Dataset access and permitted reuse depend on the source’s separate terms.
Public work and restricted evidence
Review visibility before publishing. Profiles, project portfolios, team information and event galleries can expose content to people without accounts. A private-profile setting does not make every project or event contribution private. Use the designated private-document process when an event requests restricted evidence; do not put it in a public story, link or image. Other contributors and hosts may retain shared work and event records after you leave.
Fair use and review
Follow the Community Guidelines. Do not harass others, manipulate participation or judging, send spam, distribute malware, bypass access controls or overload the service. Managers and judges must respect their permissions, declare relevant conflicts and protect restricted evidence and unannounced decisions.
We may investigate suspected misuse, remove or restrict content, limit access or suspend accounts to protect people and service integrity. Hosts may apply their published event rules. These actions do not remove rights you have under applicable law.
Leaving and account controls
Settings provide profile, privacy, notification, sign-in and account-deletion controls. The deletion preview identifies responsibilities that must be resolved first, such as transferring a shared project or a live event. Deletion can preserve shared submissions, event history and justified operational records as described in the Privacy Policy. Keep your own copies of work you need.
Availability and external services
We work to operate the platform reliably, but do not guarantee continuous availability, delivery of every notice, acceptance of a submission or any event outcome. External repositories, datasets, meeting services and identity providers have their own terms and practices. We do not control them merely because a link appears here. Nothing in these terms excludes a right or responsibility that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.
Policy versions
Changes are published as identifiable versions. Where renewed acceptance is required, the platform asks for the current version rather than treating earlier acceptance as acceptance of new text. Public policy reading and supported account-deletion controls remain available if you decline updated terms.
Written contact
For platform questions, legal notices, security concerns or review of an account restriction, write to NORTHERN ONTARIO DEV EXCHANGE, 73 Elm St Ste 203, Sudbury, ON P3C 1R6, Canada. Identify the relevant account, event or content and explain your request. Do not send passwords or sign-in codes. Event-specific questions can also use the contact or reporting controls provided by the responsible host.
