Treat people with respect
Welcome people with different backgrounds and experience. Give specific, constructive feedback. Harassment, threats, discrimination, sexual exploitation, targeted humiliation and retaliation are not acceptable. Do not publish someone’s private contact details, images or other personal information without permission.
Describe yourself and your work accurately
Use your own identity and state affiliations honestly. Credit teammates, source code, datasets, media and upstream projects. Distinguish your implementation from a reference, your plans from completed work, and measured results from expectations. Follow the event’s rules for prior work and assisted development. Do not fabricate participation, testing, scores, endorsements or awards.
Respect permissions and licences
Share only material you are entitled to use. Keep credentials, confidential records and restricted dataset contents out of public pages. An invitation or review role grants access for its stated purpose, not permission to redistribute private evidence. Ask before including another person as a contributor or publishing their work.
Keep participation and judging fair
Follow event requirements and deadlines. Do not create deceptive accounts, manipulate registrations or social actions, or pressure judges. Managers and judges should disclose relevant conflicts, use the published rubric and protect private feedback and unannounced decisions. Free platform access must not be presented as paid NODE membership.
Use shared spaces responsibly
Keep discussions and project feedback relevant. Do not spam people, repeatedly send unwanted invitations, distribute malware or attempt to bypass access controls. Stop contact when someone declines it. Do not test security weaknesses against other people’s data or disrupt the service.
Raise concerns carefully
Use the event’s reporting control where available. Include the relevant page or content, a factual description and enough context to assess the issue. Do not circulate private evidence publicly to prove a complaint. Reports should be made honestly; disagreement alone is not abuse. Avoid further contact with a person who is harassing you.
How concerns may be handled
We and authorized event managers may review reports, seek context and restrict content or access. Depending on the issue, action can include a warning, removal of material, event restrictions or account suspension. Immediate restrictions may be necessary for security or safety. Do not retaliate against a good-faith report; these guidelines do not limit applicable legal rights.
For a concern or request to review a moderation action that you cannot resolve through available event controls, write to NORTHERN ONTARIO DEV EXCHANGE, 73 Elm St Ste 203, Sudbury, ON P3C 1R6, Canada, identifying the content or decision involved.
